Designed by Biddis Lifestyle Design, CREO at the Royal Exchange is a premium, hospitality-inspired serviced office in London. Lucerne plank and Lattes herringbone were specified throughout the communal areas, bringing warmth, character and continuity to a workplace designed to feel more like a members’ club or boutique hotel than a conventional office.
Rethinking the serviced office
CREO’s vision was to create a premium, design-led workplace that feels more like a members’ club or boutique hotel than a conventional serviced office: a boutique, hospitality-inspired workspace combining architectural character, wellbeing-focused amenities and premium communal areas to create a more inspiring alternative.
Biddis Lifestyle Design approached the interior with the language of hospitality in mind. Lounges and collaborative spaces sit at the heart of the experience, creating a workplace designed to feel warm, welcoming and considered rather than overtly corporate. Natural materials were central to this approach, introducing warmth and texture to the commercial setting.
Creating character and sophisication
On the ground floor, Lattes Herringbone from the PurePlank range was specified for the ‘Library’ – the building’s main lounge and collaboration space – where it provides a strong sense of arrival. Part of cocoa colour group its rich tones add character and sophistication to the space.
Uplifting and brightening
Lucerne from the PurePlank range was selected for its lighter, brunette colour tones, helping to brighten areas with more limited access to daylight and ensuring a consistent, uplifting feel throughout the building. Laid as planks, Lucerne was used throughout the lower-ground lounges and all other communal areas in the building, creating continuity while delivering a warm, natural backdrop that supports everyday working, informal meetings and social interaction.
100% Occupancy
The completed project successfully realised CREO London’s vision for a design-led, community-focused workplace. The building launched at 100% occupancy, with occupiers and visitors continuing to respond positively to the quality of the environment, welcoming atmosphere and distinctive character of the communal areas.
