Riggs DC uses Quadro from Havwoods’ Venture Plank Collection to bring warmth and character back into its historic interiors. Brunette-toned Quadro Plank (HW3880) in a Character grade creates a rich foundation throughout the guest rooms, while Quadro Herringbone (HW3004-16) introduces pattern and movement within the atmospheric Silver Lyan bar. Together, the two formats connect different areas of the hotel while complementing the building’s distinctive architectural heritage.
Brunette tones meet historic Washington
Bringing warmth back to a historic landmark
Riggs DC occupies a landmark building originally designed as an imposing example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture during Washington’s golden age of banking. Following several transformations over its history, the hotel’s redesign sought to reintroduce warmth and character while respecting the building’s architectural heritage. Havwoods timber flooring plays an important role throughout, with Quadro used in different formats across the guest rooms and Silver Lyan bar.
Brunette tones in the guest rooms
The hotel’s guest rooms feature Quadro Plank (HW3880), a Character grade floor within Havwoods’ Brunette color group. Its deep brown tones introduce richness and warmth to the rooms, while the natural variation of the Character grade timber adds depth and individuality. The result is a sophisticated foundation that complements the hotel’s layered approach to color, texture and historic references.
Herringbone character at Silver Lyan
In the atmospheric Silver Lyan bar, Quadro Herringbone (HW3004-16) offers a different interpretation of the same rich timber aesthetic. The herringbone pattern introduces movement and traditional parquet influence, making it particularly suited to a space designed to feel established and characterful. Using Quadro across different formats also creates a subtle connection between the hotel’s guest and hospitality spaces.
Versatility from Venture Plank
Quadro is part of Havwoods’ Venture Plank Collection, a versatile range of engineered wood flooring offering an extensive choice of tones, finishes and formats. At Riggs DC, the combination of Brunette-toned Quadro Plank (HW3880) and Quadro Herringbone (HW3004-16) demonstrates how one distinctive wood aesthetic can be adapted for different environments, bringing continuity, warmth and character to this historic Washington hotel.
